Festival Guide

Tidewater Falls, our stunning and intimate Oregon coastal forest venue, is 2.5 hours from Portland or Eugene, 5 hours from Ashland or Seattle and 10 hours from San Francisco or Vancouver, BC. It is located just a few miles East of Tidewater, Oregon. Driving directions are posted here.

Be prepared to camp in the trees and meadows, away from the vehicle that you arrived in. Bring a tent, sleeping bag, warm clothing and everything you need to feel comfortable outdoors. We will provide clean water for you to drink (please bring your own vessel) and there will be a variety of sustainable & sustaining food options available for purchase (you will be permitted to cook your own food on a campstove — no personal fires allowed).

Beloved is different. Read through each section of the guide below. Please explore the essays about our intention, about our ecological ethics, about what Beloved is, about devotion, about what sacred music means to us; and peruse the FAQs to understand how to prepare for a unique camping / festival experience.

Parking

Parking at beloved will be different for 2012. Building on refinements from 2011, we aim to provide as smooth an entry into the festival as possible. We strongly encourage you to carpool. Parking is free when there are 3 or more passengers per vehicle; otherwise, fees will be assessed at $30 per car. Parking fees will be waived for cars with 3 or more riders. Use our Rideshare Page to help you fill every seat!

Tidewater Falls has continued to increase its parking capacity from past years. All parking will be in an onsite lot under a quarter mile from where you will camp. You will have access to your vehicle during the event. However, you will not be able to drive to your campsite.

We will help you to transport your gear to your camp (by providing wheeled carts and gear transport vehicles). Please arrange your setup to make this comfortable (organize and pack your belongings, as opposed to leaving them loose in your trunk).

Please see our note about parking and ingress/egress if you would like to know more about how this has changed from past years.

Camping

Camping for Friday, Saturday and Sunday is included in the ticket price. There is an additional $30 charge for Thursday Camping and arrival.

Forest camping has been dramatically expanded for the 2012 festival. There will be plenty of space in the grass and under the trees for your campsite. There will also be many campground hosts who will help you locate the best campsite for your needs. Consult the new site map to decide where to camp.

There is no car camping space available on the festival grounds. We understand that camping near your vehicle, van or RV makes a really nice setup easier; however, we are unable to offer that at this year's festival site. We do encourage you to come prepared to create your own sacred space away from any vehicles.

Water

There will not be disposable plastic water bottles available for sale onsite. Please bring reusable drinking containers. Clean drinking water stations will be present throughout the festival site for you to fill your water containers.

The Oasis Community Bathhouse will provide a sauna (bring one towel to sauna on and another to dry off with), showers and grooming station for a small fee.

Music, ceremony and workshops will begin on Friday at noon and will continue until Sunday at midnight. As one attendee put it, you might think: "I must have died or else the new paradigm we've all been talking has finally happened."

Expect three full days and three nights overflowing with:

Expect to be camping in the forest for 4 days and nights. There will be showers (for a small fee) and hot water sinks to wash your hands and your body. Bring a tent and sleeping bag and be prepared to feel comfortable outdoors the entire time you are here... whether it is 90 degrees and sunny or if it is raining, cold and muddy.

What We Expect of You

  • Come prepared to take responsibility for your own experience and for your impact on the land and the others present.
  • Please generate as little waste as possible and adopt a leave-no-trace ethic; pack-it-in & pack-it-out.
  • Sort all of your waste if you use our recycling/composting facilities.
  • Please no dogs and other pets.
  • Bring your own containers for water.
  • Please renew your dedication to your regular practices, whatever they may be, before you come to the event. Make a special effort, at least for the month before you arrive, to engage in some personal cultivation work every day.
  • Please don't take yourself too seriously... Mostly likely no one will achieve complete enlightenment at the festival (but anything is possible). Let's just be present and have fun together and be open to each-other and whatever might come up.
  • Do your best to renounce your arrogance and allow the power of humility. Find ways to see the beloved in everyone you meet and see at the festival.
