WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THESE WORKSHOPS?

Our workshop offerings support our objective to cultivate ourselves as channels of Sacred Sound and Music, as well as to live lives that are true expressions of Living, Sacred Art.

We wish to create a space for you to question and expand your sense of boundaries and connection between self and Beloved, and to leave with new potentials for deeper experience and expression of the Beloved.

HOW ARE THE WORKSHOPS SELECTED?

All of our educational content is themed on the archetype of the Beloved (the notion of the divine residing in each of us and each person we contact and within the very experience of loving itself). We hold the intention that these offerings engage you through body, mind, emotions and spirit.

We seek to ground all participants with time honored traditions, and we invite you to stretch your edge with new perspectives, practice and experience.

HOW SHOULD I ENGAGE THESE WORKSHOPS?

Whether you map your days at the event around the workshops, or if you drop-in whenever you feel a call, remember the extent of the activation and engagement that is going on around you, and feel free to access the offerings for heart and soul that surround you.

Give yourself permission to explore the content fully during the workshops and on the dancefloor, waiting in line for a meal or at your campsite.

Michael MeadeSongs of Longing, Paths of Revelation

The soul is the primal part of us, the premier source of changes in the world and transformations in our lives. Soul would have each of us find our path in life even as the world becomes more troubled and confusing. The soul is the light inside the dark, the hidden quintessence that secretly holds things together within each of us and within the world.

Each soul has been secretly called to meet the divine and each must walk the road to that meeting on their own feet. There is no GPS device that leads to the territory where the Beloved patiently waits. Yet, each soul carries a hidden map that unfolds whenever our longings out sing our fears. And, there are ecstatic areas where no map is needed, where the “luminous stage beneath your feet” appears and the dance you were intended to find finds you.

On the grounds of ecstasy we find the cosmic and cellular dance of life and find again the rhythm of creation. On this occasion we will explore the territories of the divine through poetry and song; we will create a “hunting party for the divine.”

Manoj ChalamGanesh: Secret Symbolisms of the Self - Dr. Manoj Chalam

The little-known text called the Ganapati Upanishad elevates the primordial form of Ganesha to symbols of consciousness. Vedantic meditation on Ganesha consists of shravana (listening), manana (contemplation), and nidhidhyasana (taking a stand in consciousness) and is an intuitive way to realize the Self. Discover how these nondualistic teachings of Vedanta can add great insights into your yoga/spiritual practice.

Manoj uses humor, stories and everyday experiences in his talks on Mythology, Vedanta and Tantra. Indian-born Manoj has given keynote lectures at Yoga festivals and teaches at Yoga Journal conferences, studios, ashrams and Universities. He is a scientist with a doctorate in Chemical Physics from Cornell University. The pursuit of money and fame consumed Manoj initially and at some point he realized that it is a treadmill going to nowhere except a burnout. It took a long time for Manoj to figure out that his calling in life is to assimilate and teach spiritual practice and philosophy through the symbolisms of Yogic Hindu & Buddhist art which he now imports from India. Manoj has also compiled a book on Hindu and Buddhist Symbology. Manoj also frequently tours and lectures at the retreats of the Founder of Anusara Yoga, John Friend.

Larry and CandaceSolsara: Social Meditation - Candace Scheidegger & Larry Kaplowitz

Do you feel a desire to be fully alive, to be perceptive and clear? Do you have an intention to show up more fully and to connect with people to a greater level? Come practice being honest, unveiling yourself, and inquiring together into who we truly are. We will practice taking the qualities of increased awareness and focused presence found in most meditative practices and apply that same witnessing to how we interact with others. We will utilize the creative potential and wisdom that are generated when we listen deeply to ourselves and one another in this way to free ourselves from our limiting ideas, explore our true essence and further our evolution. Through this practice we will increase the atmosphere of authenticity, intimacy and depth of connection during the festival. Workshops will be tailored daily in response to what is emerging during Beloved.

Candace Scheidegger has offered courses in evolving consciousness for the past ten years and Larry Kaplowitz for over twenty years. Link to the Solsara webpage: www.solsara.net

Swami Prakashananda100 Handprint Healing - Swami Prakashananda

The 100 Handprint Ritual is a ceremony that is intended to help relieve suffering on all levels. It is from the tradition known asChöd in Tibetan Buddhism. Chöd is a very old tantric practice that can have powerful energetic effects; calming physical, mental, emotional and environmental disturbances.

During this practice, the recipients lie down while the ritual is performed. There are prayers, chanting, music, and extensive offerings. The instruments used are a bell, a double-sided drum, and a bone trumpet. In the ritual, each practitioner visualizes offering their body, transforming it into whatever is needed to satisfy the energies present in the environment. Through giving themselves away completely, Chöd practitioners learn about the ultimate unity at the heart of life, and all those present in the environment share the benefit from the offering that is made.

The ritual will be led by Swami Prakashananda, practice director at The Movement Center. Swamiji has been a teacher of kundalini meditation for over 20 years. He studied Chöd practice with Swami Chetanananda, the spiritual director of The Movement Center, and Lama Tsering Wangdu Rinpoche, a highly accomplished Buddhist master from Kathmandu. themovementcenter.com

Morgan BrentHuman Flowering Song Circle - Morgan Brent

In the tradition of shamanic medicine circles, we embark upon a collective journey, an embodied creation story, that we breath, voice, chant, spirit-language, and ultimately, sing alive. This resonance with our evolutionary heritage opens a fertile imaginal space, allowing the deeper currents of Creation to sprout up, flower, and fruit the higher Octaves of our Human Beingness. This all in service to increasing activation of the Gaian Dream, of Our Dream, as it unfurls itself beneath the Sunlight of our Opening Hearts. May we all Flourish Omward thru these Transitional Thymes!

Morgan Brent (MT Xen) has a PhD in anthropology, however he left academia after engagements with herbal healing traditions clued him into a vast Gaian intelligence, with which he became conversant, and soon allied with its purposes. He now specializes in the prescriptive teachings (Gaian dharma) of medicinal plants, aka 'Nature's plan to save the humans'. In service to this guidance, he writes articles and essays, births, collects, and strings together songs into malas of embodied story telling, and makes medicines of all kinds, among them events both large (Singing Alive gatherings, now in their 5th year), and small (Creation-song circles). These events are about sharing songs (and prayers, chants, blessings, and song om) of personal and planetary renewal ~ which he considers gestures of subtle activism, food for a spiritually hungry world. Ryan PowellDaoist Big Dipper Walking Ceremony - Ryan Powell

Going back thousands of years there is a practice of 'star stepping' in the Chinese shamanic and Daoist tradition. The Big Dipper, or Bei Dou (北斗), is considered to be the Heart of Heaven and controls the destiny and karma of all life. Traditionally practiced on the night of the full moon, this practice is a way of attuning ourselves with the harmonious energy of the Bei Dou to improve our lives, our karma, and our connection with the Dao and on the spiritual level will teach us how to fly. Join us as we recite the Big Dipper Mantra and spin around the stars of the Dipper and spiral into the center of our being together in this ancient shamanic ritual.

Ryan has been on the path of sacred music, Qigong cultivation, and energy healing for over 14 years. He has been learning and practicing the shamanic cultivation arts of China (Emei and Dragon Gate Qigong, Zhaobao He Taijiquan, Dai Xinyi, Yijing prediction and Calligraphy) with his teacher Master Zhongxian Wu since 2002 and has traveled to China to connect more deeply with the Hidden Immortal lineage. William PhelanDance of Shiva/Mudra Rasa: System of Conscious Liberation- William Phelan

A Dynamic Meditation that moves through all possible rotations of the joints. Breaks down conditioned patterns and stimulates neural connections. Improves reaction speed and coordination. Excellent for dancers and martial artists and yogi's.

Mudra Rasa: Mudra means condition. Rasa is a state of being. Dynamic movement through emotional and psychic conditions. Learning to sense one's own energy field and conduct it through the subtle vibrations of the chakras. How to move prana through one's being. Dance of Shiva recommended right before for heightened sensitivity.

William has been dedicated to the practice of asana for nearly a decade, having first come to yoga in 2003 on his personal path of self-healing and awakening. After studying extensively with his teacher, Katerina Wen, he completed Universal Yoga Level Three teacher training with founder, Andrey Lappa. A full-time teacher at Yogi Way in Seattle for three years, he has continually refined his practice, incorporating the techniques of Tripsichore yoga, created by Edward Clarke.

Students of William's have come to expect a strong asana practice linked with vinyasa, which can be modified for most any body; breath control, bandhas; a witty humor which lightens the mood of the practice, balanced by an intrinsically sacred approach, deepening the bhav, or blissfull awareness.

Highly inquisitive into the nature of reality, yoga has led William to a deeply authentic peace within it. As a teacher, he strives to embody awareness and acceptance, and to share the most fundamental essence and experience of Yoga: Action Expanding Unification.

Michael StirlingRaga: Singing a Prism - Michael Stirling

Nowhere in the world has the science of sound and music been investigated with such depth and sophistication as in ancient India, where a unique cultural tradition of yoga, spirituality and music has developed. The Vedas teach that music is the most important of the art forms, with the body as the instrument of expression. Accordingly, vocal music is given the highest significance.

India’s classical music today, exists as a direct descendant of these ancient traditions, preserved, elaborated and developed through the ages, and passed on orally from teacher to disciple, in the Guru-Shishya tradition.

Raga, the musical language that is at the heart of Hindustani classical music, is a highly devotional, yet improvised musical form with a lyric content that is concerned with divine love, the separation of lovers, nature and the seasons. This workshop will increase your knowledge and broaden your understanding of the general elements of North Indian Classical Music (raga & tala) and its ancient cultural and historical elements.

Participants will sing and learn one of several raga scales and also compositions in those ragas. The rhythmic aspect of Indian classical music (tala) will also be examined.  The workshop will be accompanied by tambura (the essential drone instrument) and tabla (a set of two small hand drums).

The class is taught in the Kirana style of North Indian classical vocal music ~ which traces its history back in time over 700 years ago to the colorful era of the mogul kings and to the legendary saint and singer Gopal Nayak, who worshipped Krishna, embraced Sufism and blended these elements into a spiritual form expressed in the language of music.

Serena ScaglioneCrossing The Event Horizon: The Unified Field Theory of Nassim Haramein - Jamie Janover

Have you ever wondered about how the universe really works? How we fit in? How everything really is "All One" WITHOUT having to think of it with those silly quotes around it? I certainly have... So when I first saw scientist Nassim Haramein speak I was totally blown away. He actually was able to tie together everything into one cohesive unification theory. I mean EVERYTHING - from cosmology to quantum mechanics, sacred geometry, ancient cultures, religious texts, Einstein's relativistic theories (with an added spin component) and even the nature of consciousness....

Learn about Nassim Haramein’s lifelong journey into the geometry of spacetime, which has lead to a coherent understanding of the fundamental structure of the universe and our existence in it. In this presentation, I will take you on a journey through humanity’s evolution, exposing the changes necessary to produce a Unified Physics; a unification of not only the four forces of nature, but also evolution and the occurrence of consciousness. Haramein's theory demonstrates as well a parallel between ancient codes in documents and monuments. This all-encompassing theory may prove to be one of the most important discoveries of our time.

Qigong: the Voice of the Heart/Mind - Sifu Willow

Willow began his studies of mind/body arts in 1972 with the Hatha yoga system developed by Yogiraj Sri Swami Satchidananda, an art he continues to study and perfect.  In 1975 his interest in martial arts and eastern philosophy took seed.  Willow has studied and taught various forms of Japanese, Okinawian, and Chinese martial arts for the past 35 years.  In 1986 he began his studies in the Taoist tantric arts of T’ai Chi and Qigong.  In 1988 he was accepted as a private pupil of  T’ai Chi Master Wang Hui-Juin (Henry Wang – www.searchcentertaichi.com).  For the past 25 years Willow has seriously pursued excellence in these mind/body/spirit arts under Master Wang’s tutelage, studies in China, and personal exploration.  In 1993 he opened ‘Harmony in Motion T’ai Chi, Yoga, & Qigong School’ in Boise, Idaho.  Since that time he has assisted hundreds of students in their pursuit of these arts for better health, increased awareness, and furthering their spiritual growth.  After years of study Willow has developed a synthesized art called “Three Harmony Yoga” that is a flowing blend of Taoist, Hatha, and Tibetan tantric yoga that emphasizes the beauty and power of the breath, with movement and postures, to balance and open all the energy pathways in the body and connect the participant with the intrinsic energy within.  He has shared his knowledge of these arts at workshops in the United States and Canada.  Simply put “these arts are my Passion in Life”.

Willow lives and practices his arts in his new found community of Bend, Oregon.     Willow’s love of dance and playing in nature are other joy filled extensions of his arts.

This offering will focus on Taoist and Tibetan tantric qigong.  Qigong is a ancient tantric yogic art that utilizes the intent (yi), the breath (zhong), and relaxed fluid movement to create a calm, natural, balanced flow of energy that can improve one’s health and spiritual well-being.  Qigong is a way to listen, enhance, and understand the flow of your internal, or intrinsic, energy (qi/prana) and cultivate your spiritual energy (shen).

The intent of this offering is to develop a better understanding of energy awarness, connection, & movement in ones practice.  In this session we will emphasize the use of coordinated movement, relaxation, breathing, and visualization in order for the individual to experience a deeper sense of center, rootedness, heaven/earth connection, energy flow, and ultimate awarness.  We will, as a collective, open and activate all the energy centers and channels in the body, bring about release and activation of the myofascial memory, and at the same time, gently stretch and strenghten all the connective tissue throughout the body.

Knowing Yourself, Loving All - Karl Baba

Many people live every day identified with an imaginary image of themselves. Wrapped up in that illusory identity, they often fail to see the beauty and perfection in Life, themselves, and Others. The True Self, which is the essence of Being and Love, is the source of creativity as well. So aligning with our essential nature is a tool for Love and Peace within, and Creativity without.

This workshop gives you tools and insight to anchor yourself in your true being and express the Love that you are. Karl “Baba” is a spiritual teacher and shaman authorized by two eastern lineages: Papa Ji and Saccha. While he has decades of experiential and academic background in mystical traditions, his sharing is based on experience available for everyone to use without dogma or blind faith. In our workshop circle, we create a sacred space and invite a transmission beyond words that uplifts us from within, and is reflected in the poetry of Life.

Closing Meditation with Rigzin

Yoga for Kids - Heather Wellburn

Fun poses for kids and parents of any age. In this playful family yoga class we will practice several series of asana flows such as Grow Flow, Flying Flow, and Puppy Dog Flow. We will Meow like Cats and Moo like Cows while in the poses. Song like, The More We Get Together, will be sung to keep the attention of little ones. We will play games to review poses such as Simon Says... and Who Am I? A beautiful collection of toys and puppets are used to review the poses and to encourage participation. Parent child and partner poses such as riding bikes with feet connected in the air are nice ways to learn how to work together. Some poses will be done in a circle to show how we are all connected. This class offers kids a fun way to get exposed to yoga moves and gives parents a way to connect with their kids in a spiritual way. Yoga helps kids improve coordination and consciousness of the mind body connection.

Heather Welburn is a Registered Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance. She teaches Yoga For Kids in Eugene, Oregon. Heather has a ten year old son who has grown up practicing yoga. Heather Welburn did her yoga teacher training with Sarahjoy Marsh in Portland. She is inspired by the Anusara tradition of flowing with grace. She gives thanks to the yoga teachers who have recently helped her on her path: Karen Lakritz, Glen Tippin, Tom Clark, Juliet Chipman Smith. Heather was introduced to yoga in 1992, while doing physical therapy to recover from a dislocated femur in a car accident. A friend took her to Richard Freeman's Yoga class in Boulder, Colorado and it changed her life. She felt spiritually awakened and more aware. It helped her transcend the many obstacles that have been challenges on her path.

Organic Relationships - Lovetribe

A discussion circle on the practice of living in organic relationships (whether open or closed). When we set aside acculturated or scripted relationship patterns, what form of relationship do you feel called to in your heart, and how do you talk about that with your friend, partner, lover or SO?

LoveTribe is engaged in a spiritual and ecological work that is grounded in our bodies, helping to germinate a more sustainable culture based on abundance, vitality and sharing. Recognizing we are all connected at a spiritual or energetic level, LoveTribe helps foster heart-conscious, touch-positive communities that create gatherings where we can learn and practice skills for getting our needs for authentic connection, affection and play met in healthy, caring ways. When we feel safe in our bodies sharing affectionate and playful touch, then sharing all the blessing of Mother Earth comes more naturally.
